Private Hugh McCue

The background of this North Irish Horseman is not known at present, other than that at some point after the war he lived at 57 East Whitburn, West Lothian, Scotland.

Hugh McCue initially served in the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders (No.11129), embarking for France on 1 October 1915.

Between 29 January and 12 April 1917 he was transferred to the North Irish Horse (regimental number 2410 or 2412 – later Corps of Hussars No.71809).

In January 1918 he embarked for Egypt with a draft of North Irish Horsemen from the regimental reserve depot at Antrim. There he was attached to the 1/1st Staffordshire Yeomanry (Queen's Own Royal Regiment), serving with that regiment in the Palestine campaign.

On 10 March 1919 McCue was demobilised and transferred to Class Z, Army Reserve.
